Europe has been the center of much of Western Civilization throughout the history of mankind and is the second smallest continent but different to the rest of the world as it is designated as a continent for political reasons. There is no geographic basis for the claim of being a continent! Home to 700 million people, but birth rates are stagnant and there is not much more room, especially with so many tourists visiting for most of the year. Europe has been racked with war throughout its history to the point where more than 70 former countries have been conquered and no longer appear on maps. The smallest country in Europe is the Vatican, which is considered a separate country from Italy even though it is in the middle of Rome and the largest city in Europe is Paris with a population of just under 10 million people. Coach, train, campervan or maybe just a trek in the French Alps, there are so many ways to get around to see the many sights of the wonderful continent. It seems that almost every town has its own culture different to one just around the corner but then you could be in another country, as with no real borders in Europe these days you may well be ! Explore the back streets of Paris, cruise on the canals of Venice, chill-out on the white sand beaches of Paros or maybe party hard in Prague. Visit Europe’s most stunning cities like Munich, Amsterdam, Madrid or head into the Tuscany hills in Italy and sip Chianti from the local winery. Sample its most famous art and history museums or visit the world's most famous church - St.Peters Basicila in Rome. Meander through enchanting narrow streets, discover hidden courtyards and gardens. Stride down boulevards or chill out at lively street cafés and watch the world go by. Enjoy the beaches and nightlife of the cities to dance and party the European summer away with your new found friends. |
