Founder, Malcolm Lewis has travelled extensively over the years. He has something many travel people do not have - first-hand experience!

My Adventure started in 1986 when I left Melbourne and flew to London for short 4 weeks trip around Europe and 23 years later I have still not returned back to Melbourne - well only for quick family visits!

I have seen & experienced firsthand an amazing array of adventures in all parts of this wonderful planet. Five of those years were some of the most memorable years of my life as a Top Deck Travel tour leader and travelled all over Europe, Nth Africa, Middle East & the Indian Sub-continent on the infamous Double Decker buses.

In between Europe summers, I did a lot of backpacking around North & South America, Asia & Africa where I met some amazing people who to this day remain amongst my best & most trusted friends. I then decided that this experience should be passed onto the public and became a Travel consultant in London for 3 years where I met my wife Michelle who hailed from Aotearoa (NZ).

My Adventure continued in the 4 years I spent in NZ as I became the father of 2 wonderful children - Siobhan & Liam (2 great Irish names - it must have all those pints of Guiness while in the UK)

My career as a travel consultant moved into store management with a major retail chain so I also managed to visit all the Pacific Islands & more of Asia with numerous visits back to OZ to places that I have never visited while living here!

When I returned to Australia in the late 90's in the same retail management role for another 4 years, before I moved into the corporate world dealing with a number of major Qld companies.

With 20 plus years of personal travel in every different continent by every different method of transport and many years of knowledge in different roles in the Travel Industry, I am still passionate about helping YOU realise Your Adventure"

Adventure Travel Expert Karen Christie says 'you want adventure, you got it'.

kaz in paraguay.jpg"Yeah sure we’ve all been hunted by a hungry anaconda in the Amazon, charged by a grumpy elephant in Africa, or been detained in a third world country by the secret Police and questioned about spying—well, perhaps that’s just me. It’s all part of the adventure when checking out some of the more interesting nooks and crannies of the world.

Reflecting on years of travels and adventures, I often reflect on what draws us away from our home comforts and into the unknown.

I’ve marvelled at the wildlife of the Galapagos, the colour of indigenous cultures in Guatemala, and the majesty of stunning natural and ancient features throughout my travels in Central and South America.

Being kissed by seals, or watching the thunderous Iguaçu Falls is cool but whole experience is built from many moments; such as wandering and engaging with street vendors, or getting your pants fixed by an eighty-year-old tailor. These impressions linger.

After four years living on the doorstep of the Canadian Rockies, days spent skiing pristine mountain slopes are a given, but it was the soak in the hot springs and a glass of wine looking out ‘my’ window in the Banff Springs Hotel that bought the experience together.

It isn’t the good old days of catching the tube to work in London that fills my memories of my year in Europe—it’s finding a drinkable litre bottle of wine in Spain, or a flat campsite during a month drifting through he Greek islands with a tent in my pack.

Then again, sometimes adventure is as simple as crossing a road in Hanoi, or as relaxed as biking through rural villages in far-flung corners of China.

It’s been a while since that grumpy elephant took umbrage at my idea of wandering down a quiet back road in Zimbabwe. But I haven’t forgotten the moment when he charged, ears out; trumpeting. I wonder if the elephant remembers that crazy Aussie chick and how fast he made her run (my husband ran faster!).

Travels vary from ho-hum to humdinger. It’s about all those experiences coming together and making life an unforgettable journey.

I’ve been in the business of sending people on their own adventures for 15 years. Ask me — I know."

darren k.jpgDarren has the experience to help you get the most out of your adventure!

I have been in the travel industry for over nine years and have enjoyed many amazing opportunities to travel to numerous destinations—experiencing diverse cultures and making life-long friends.

My ultimate destination is Canada, with spectacular scenery and friendly locals; it is pretty much a home away from home.  The Canadian Rockies are just amazing. If you want a total breathtaking experience, try exploring the nature of Canada.

South America is a must do. You hear the stories—growing envious—and it lives up to the excitement. Peru is amazing and is a favourite. Experiencing the sunrise on Machu Picchu, waking up early to finally get there (breathless) and watching the sun shine through the clouds onto the lost city of the Incas was something I will never forget. The moment was witnessed by hundreds of people and watching their smiling faces confirmed the reason I got into travel in the first place.

Another favourite for me is South Africa, particularly Kruger National Park. If you share my dream to see elephants, giraffes, hippos, zebras and most of all lions in the wild, here is the place.

My first experience of elephants was driving up to a herd when the matriarch went into protection mode and honestly the sweat on my hands and fear on my face kept the tour leader entertained for some time. I wound up my window thinking I would be safe from her massive tusks by hiding behind glass. The city slicker in me really knew how to survive in the wild! This is why it’s great to travel with experienced people.

There are many other places that I have listed but not enough room on the website to fill my stories.

South America - extensive Peregrine tour: Peru, Chile, Argentina, Brazil and Bolivia
Canada - self drive all through Canada. I have been back six times – it feels like home
USA - Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Miami and Las Vegas
Asia - Shanghai, Singapore, Bangkok, Vietnam (Kumuka tour), Bali
South Africa - 2 Peregrine tours: Kruger and Swaziland, and Capetown and surrounding areas
New Zealand
Europe - Contiki tours throughout Europe, including Scandinavia. Have travelled extensively through Eastern and Western Europe
Britain, Scotland, and Wales with Contiki and Ireland on Shamrocker

I love sharing my experiences with people but also love making experiences happen as well.  Hearing your stories when you return is amazing and seeing your eyes light up and big smiles is fantastic.
